Junior Financial Crime Analyst

We’re looking for a Junior Financial Crime Analyst to play a key role in investigating and preventing fraudulent activity on the Exchange, while supporting our integrity monitoring functions to ensure the fairness of our betting markets. What you will bring
- Sound Microsoft Excel and/or SQL skills and proficient in the use of standard IT Packages.
- Previous experience working in an analytical and/or investigations background.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including some weekends.
- Previous use of open-source investigative tooling and methodology (preferred, not essential).
- Strong wagering IQ to understanding betting anomalies/different customer betting strategies.
- Take a very proactive approach to process improvement.
- Be a true champion and expert of entrusted risk remits, sharing your learnings with peers.
- Demonstrate independence and autonomy.
Some tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Utilise internal applications, scheduled reporting and real-time alerting to enable accurate and timely monitoring of customer transactions supporting the early identification of fraudulent or suspicious activity.
- Undertake comprehensive analysis of large data sets to analyse suspicious activity and create formal case files, including written reports, to support analysis for use internally and externally.
- Review reporting to ensure account holder compliance with Betfair’s T’s & C’s.
- Maintain an evolving knowledge and understanding of global fraud trends and payment fraud risks.
- Undertake chargeback investigation and reconciliation for fraudulent transactions.
- Build on established relationships with the Customer Service Team, CDD Function and other departments to ensure all risk related customer queries and other duties, are undertaken efficiently and effectively including:
- Communicating with Betfair’s customers in relation to Risk matters.
- Undertaking KYC functions as and when required.
- Complete reporting and subsequent data to sports and racing partners, in accordance with product agreements.
- Support requests for information from law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
- Support industry participant betting audits for sports and racing partners.
- Maintain a working knowledge of product agreement integrity provisions.
- Conduct in-depth transactional data customer analysis, identifying behaviours identifiable as key business risks.
- Conduct in-depth external, open-source, customer background analysis to identify any key risks.
- Conduct periodic ECDD reviews of high-risk customers.
- Develop sound understanding of Betfair’s obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006.
- Review and investigate customer identity and wealth documents to ensure accuracy and minimise fraud opportunity.
