Data Analyst


Betfair Pty Limited (the Company) is a disruptor bringing innovation and competition to the Australian sports betting industry while operating responsibly and following regulations to protect the community.

We’re looking for a Data Analyst who will be responsible for providing value-add insights and timely reporting to the wider business. They will also be required to assist the Insights Manager in the support of other analysts both within the Analytics and Insights team and the wider business using complex code and data driven processes. Additionally, the role will contribute to ensuring the overall business goals are correctly measured towards strategic targets.

REQUIREMENTS 

 

What you will bring

  • Have 1-2 years experience using SQL programming.
  • 1-2 years experience with data wrangling language – R.
  • Able to take initiative, be proactive and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and exhibit excellent consulting and internal customer service skills.
  • High level of numeracy.
  • Experience in reporting/building using Shiny/markdown.
  • Experience deploying/managing reports on Posit Connect.
  • Have a passion for using data and analytics to build reports and develop insights to solve business problems.
  • Enjoy teaching and passing on knowledge to aspiring analysts within the business.
  • You assist in assessing business performance and share findings with leaders to drive improvement.
  • You have the ability to work autonomously.
  • You are a great team player, constantly collaborating with and helping other teams to achieve common goals.
  • You are driven by your knowledge and passion for racing, sports and wagering.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.

Some tasks include, but are not limited to: 

 

Reporting –

  • Apply advanced SQL coding to extract data from the snowflake database.
  • Develop and deliver reports to meet stakeholders needs using Shiny or markdown.
  • Contribute to the development of the analytics teams’ skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in the development/implementation of data governance and standards.

Business Performance and Insights – 

  • Analysing information using statistical/data analysis techniques to provide key insights.
  • Present analysis/business performance results to leadership and operational teams.
  • Diagnose areas where the overall business is exceeding or fails to hit targets and suggests action is taken to adjust trends.
